Hey you! So… Apparently you want to know more about Retag? Let’s roll!
Retag is a small, Belgium based company who wants to reduce the environmental impact of fast fashion. We want to provide you with secondhand and vintage (20+ years old) clothing that deserve a second life. We handpick our items to make you look fa-bu-lous while doing something good for our planet. All of that for a nice price, WIN!
Who’s behind Retag?
We’re Nathalie and Kevin, a couple from Leopoldsburg who have been together for 7 years (hopefully no seven year itch here). Early on in our relationship we already discovered that we love to go to flea markets and thrift stores. We’re both nostalgic people and looking for secondhand treasures fills that need.
From old toys to vintage furniture, we love everything with a story. Very often these items are from a higher quality than stuff that’s made nowadays and they were made to last longer. In our journey we discovered the impact of the throw-away society we’re living in today.
We also learned about fast fashion. What’s fast fashion? To keep it short: Fast fashion refers to clothing manufactured at warp speed and sold at a low price point. The impact on the environment and the conditions the garment workers work in, are bad, very bad.
We started to notice that people liked our interior and our clothing. That inspired us to not only search for ourselves but also for other people. It became our mission to reduce the impact of fast-fashion and to educate and inspire others to do the same. We want to break the stigma that secondhand clothing is “gross” and “not in trend or oldfashioned”.
After years of thrifting we can call ourselves “experts”. We know how to look for nice and durable fabrics, quality brands and unique pieces. We want to give people the opportunity to buy designer clothing at a lower price and to have pieces nobody else has. We also work together with people who bought high ticket items but don’t wear them. Instead of throwing them away, we want to give those items a second life.
Besides all that, we love some good vegan food, design books, going to festivals, 90s and early 2000s cartoons and we’re very into art and design.
